My name is Susanna.
When I was just an eleven-year-old girl, God began working on my heart about serving Him overseas one day. As I grew, He continued to grow that call and passion, eventually leading me to serve in a church planting ministry in the city of Bandung, West Java for four years.
While serving in Bandung, my heart for trafficked women and children grew daily. I prayed continually for them and asked God if He would let me do something to help them. For three years, His answer for me was, “Yes you will, but not right now. Wait.” So I waited, served, and continued to pray. Finally in 2019, He began to stir in my heart that the time had come to move forward into a ministry focused directly on anti-trafficking efforts. It was then in late 2019 that I resigned from my church planting ministry in Bandung and returned to the US to get my Master’s degree in trauma counseling. I graduated in May of 2021, and am simply ecstatic to return to Indonesia again with Compassion First!
It is such a privilege to be given the opportunity to serve alongside the incredible staff of Sarah’s House in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Since this is my first experience in anti-trafficking ministry, I will be in training while at Sarah’s House for 2-3 months. My heart is to grow in the areas of counseling and rehabilitation practices to most effectively help survivors of human trafficking in the future.
Thank you for your partnership in prayer and support as I seek to follow Him in Indonesia!
With love,
Susanna
