SPEAKERS

Winda Winowatan

President, Compassion First Indonesia

Winda is the President of Compassion First Indonesia/Yayasan Kasih Yang Utama (YKYU), headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. Since assuming her role with Compassion First in 2010, Winda has represented CF with excellence in daily operations and in dealing with the legality of procedures concerning non-profits. Winda is a recognized leader in the anti-trafficking field and a regular speaker for government-sponsored events and peer-organization trainings. She has moved Compassion First to the “front of the class” in all aspects of our work.

Winda likes to unwind after a hard work day by relaxing to a good movie or playing board games with her husband, Donny.

Keren Baldwin

Associate Director of Operations, Compassion First

Keren Baldwin is an Associate Director of Operations at Compassion First with 14 years of Anti-Trafficking experience working in Indonesia, in both residential Aftercare and currently in Community Development.  She finds her joy and purpose in seeing others develop their potential and flourish. She holds a Master’s degree in Global Leadership with an emphasis in International Development, from Fuller Seminary, and is also currently serving as the vice chair for the Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST).

In her free time, Keren enjoys running, nature, and having a good cup of coffee with friends.

Valerie Bellamy

The best thing about Valerie is the company she keeps. Her husband Dirk, and sons Jaxon, Luke, and Levi are her favorite humans. Cemeteries are her favorite places to meet with God. Her life has been most profoundly impacted by the people often considered least. It is Valerie’s absolute joy to share the riches they’ve given her. What an adventure it all is.

Valerie is the Director of Operations at Compassion First.

Mike Mercer

President/CEO, Compassion First

Mike is the founder and CEO of Compassion First, a Christian relief/anti-trafficking organization that has pioneered holistic, long-term care and rehabilitation for survivors of child sex trafficking in Indonesia. Their work is also supported by peer-to-peer law enforcement training efforts, legal advocacy for survivors, and community development work in severely vulnerable communities. Before working for Compassion First, Mike co-founded Foursquare Disaster Relief (FDR) and served in various pastoral roles in Beaverton, Oregon, following his graduation from Multnomah University in 1995. He was also the most recent chairman of The Accord Network, a trade association of U.S.-based Christian Relief and Development NGOs serving the global poor. Mike is an ordained minister in the Foursquare Church.

Mike lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife Kymra, their three children, an Australian Labradoodle, and a Blue Nose Pitbull. He loves golf and martial arts and is good at neither.

Worship by Free as a Bird

Free as a Bird is a worship collective comprised of Jesus-loving folk who record hymns in new ways, write scripture songs with the aim to “hide His word in hearts,” and create original worship music fit for praising the Lord. Our goal is to inspire people to lift their eyes up and know where their help comes from.

Worship at the 2023 President’s Retreat will be led by Gretyl Baird and Staci Renee of Free as a Bird.
