Join Us for a Special Getaway!

Whether you already partner with us, have people in your congregation who generously support our work, or if this is a first introduction, we are honored to have a few days together with you. The goal of this retreat is to encourage and refresh you through a purposeful space for rest and some good fun.

Bill Haley, Executive Director of Coracle, is our keynote speaker and will encourage us throughout our time together. Stacy and Travis Soverns, Worship Leaders at Fernridge Faith Center, will be leading us in worship to focus our minds on the One who gives us rest. Mike Mercer, President of Compassion First, and Valerie Bellamy, Director of Operations at Compassion First, will share about the current status and impact of our work.

Our retreat venue, Cannon Beach Conference Center, is situated very close to downtown Cannon Beach so that you can explore the variety of local shops and enjoy the many hiking trails and the expansive beachfront, featuring the notable Haystack Rock.

The beautiful Oregon Coast is waiting to give you a big hug. We hope it feels like an encouraging embrace from God Himself.

Guest and Speakers

Rev. Bill Haley

Executive Director, Coracle

Bill is the executive director of Coracle, a ministry that exists to inspire and enable people to be the presence of God in the brokenness of the world through spiritual formation for Kingdom action. Bill’s life has been fired by the phrase “in Christ all things hold together.” He wants to be able to live and say with the same passion of St. Paul, “It is no longer I who live, it is Christ who lives in me.” With his wife Tara and four kids, Bill currently lives at Corhaven in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.

Stacy & Travis Soverns

Worship Pastors

Travis and Stacy Soverns are worship leaders based out of Fernridge Faith Center (FFC) in Veneta, Oregon. Travis also serves as the Associate Pastor, and Stacy serves as the Pastoral Assistant and Service Coordinator at FFC. They aim to host the presence of God and see Christ followers all over the world deepen their relationship with God through corporate prayer and worship. They have been married and in ministry together for 11 years and have three young boys who are training to start their own “kids only” worship band. They love woodworking, farming, and learning about self-sustainable living, and they hope to one day travel the world sharing the gospel with all who have yet to hear it.

Valerie Bellamy

Director of Operations, Compassion First

The best thing about Valerie is the company she keeps. Her husband Dirk, and sons Jaxon, Luke and Levi are her favorite humans. Cemeteries are her favorite places to meet with God. Her life has been most profoundly impacted most by people often considered least. It’s Valerie’s absolute joy to share the riches they’ve given her. What an adventure it all is.

Mike Mercer

President/CEO, Compassion First

Mike is the founder and CEO of Compassion First, a Christian relief/anti-trafficking organization that has pioneered holistic, long-term care and rehabilitation for survivors of child sex trafficking in Indonesia. Their work is also supported by peer-to-peer law enforcement training efforts, legal advocacy for survivors, and community development work in severely vulnerable communities. Prior to working for Compassion First, Mike was the co-founder of Foursquare Disaster Relief (FDR) and served in various pastoral roles in Beaverton, Oregon, following his graduation from Multnomah University in 1995. He was also the most recent chairman of The Accord Network, a trade association of U.S.-based Christian Relief and Development NGO’s serving the global poor. Mike is an ordained minister in the Foursquare Church. He lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife, Kymra, their three children, an Australian Labradoodle, and a Blue Nose Pitbull. He loves golf and martial arts and is good at neither.
